(The foreshore rocks are not always exposed) - 2005
At and from the middle part of the bay at Elie, the complete formation from the Neilson shell bed to the mild Kenny Limestone is exposed. The problem is most of the time the beds are covered with sand, leaving the harder unfossiliferious rocks exposed and covered with seaweed. There is actually much softer beds in between these harder layers are these beds are the ones which are fossiliferious.

(Wood Haven) - 2005
From the car park, the opposite end looking towards the lighthouse has a very rocky foreshore with cliffs. The rocks are volcanic but contain fossils in 'sandy deposits'.
